Gutter Replacement in Northern Virginia
New Seamless Aluminum Gutters Provide Protection from Water Damage
Gutters are an integral part of a homes’ roof system and channel water that runs off the roof away from the home. Essentially they are required to protect the foundation of the home from water damage, but they also are instrumental in protecting the outer home surface from damage if water is allowed to run down the exterior walls. The more reason to properly vet and choose the right contractor for the job.
Our in-house gutter installation crews are highly skilled and extensively experienced to provide exceptional-quality products and effective results.
Gutters can be made from a variety of materials, with the most common being seamless aluminum due its resistance to rust. However, they can also be made from copper. Sunshine Contracting will be able to help you with your new seamless gutters installation in Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Stafford or Loudoun County and answer any questions you may have regarding gutter services.
Stylish Options
Northern Virginia homeowners have numerous ways to customize their gutters. Today’s seamless options offer two material choices.
Aluminum gutter systems are our most popular choice and offer a cost-effective solution. Sunshine Contracting can custom-form these to your home’s unique contours in various colors. Match other exterior features with aluminum, or opt for gorgeous copper gutters. These offer one-of-a-kind beauty, glistening when new and aging to an attractive patina.
Both materials allow for either common gutter shape — K-style or half-round. K-style gutters are the traditional systems gracing most home exteriors, while half-round styles create architectural interest with their distinctive bowl-like shape.
Add other options to upgrade your system, such as downspouts supporting rainwater collection and leaf protection for debris-free performance.
Better Water Management
A completely new gutter system from Sunshine Contracting means better run-off management for your home. Control water flows with gutters that:
- Reduce the potential for basement floods by forcing water away from your home’s foundation.
- Prevent damage to your home’s siding, stucco or brick.
- Help protect your roof from pooled water that can lead to damage or leaks.
- Whisk water away from your landscaping investments.
- Limit standing water that attracts insects.

How much do new gutters cost in Northern Virginia?
Most whole-house seamless gutter replacements run $1,200–$3,000 — smaller homes and single-story ranches come in at the low end. What moves the number: how many linear feet your roofline needs, one story or two, how many corners and downspouts, 5-inch versus 6-inch gutters (bigger roofs need the extra capacity), and whether you add leaf protection while we’re up there — which is by far the cheapest time to do it.
Want something different — copper, half-round, a repair-the-drainage-plan conversation? Reach out; we install more options than any page can list.
Don’t rule yourself out over budget. Gutter projects are among the most affordable exterior upgrades there are — tell us your number and we’ll tell you honestly what it can do. And if another bid comes in far below these ranges, ask what it leaves out — these figures reflect the complete job, done by our own crews.
Repair, reseal — or replace?
Resealing a leaky seam works — for a season or two. When seams keep splitting, gutters sag or pull away from the fascia, paint peels in vertical stripes, or water pools at your foundation, the system is done. Gutters pulling loose often means the fascia board behind them is rotting — re-screwing into rotten wood never holds, which is why we handle the fascia and the new gutters together — one crew, one visit.
Sunshine Contracting is a replacement company — we don’t patch gutters, except warranty service on systems we installed. If yours have life left, our free inspection will say so.
Getting a new roof? That’s the moment to do gutters.
If your gutters are 15–20 years old and your roof is being replaced, do them together. One project, one mobilization, and your new roof drains into a system with the same lifespan ahead of it — instead of paying a second crew to come back in two years.
Are gutter guards worth it?
Honest answer: it depends on your trees. Heavy tree cover means you’re cleaning gutters two or more times a year or paying someone to — guards end that. Light tree cover, and they’re a convenience, not a necessity. We install contractor-grade systems — Leaf Relief and Englert MicroGuard — that solve the same problem the heavily-advertised national brands do, without the four-figure sales pitch. No guard is truly “never think about it again,” and we’ll tell you that up front.
How long does gutter replacement take?
Once you give us the go-ahead, installation is typically scheduled for the very next day — unless you’d rather pick a date — and the work itself is done in a matter of hours. Old gutters come down and new ones go up in the same visit: seamless gutters are rolled to length on-site to fit your roofline exactly, in the color you choose.

Gutter questions homeowners ask us
How much does gutter replacement cost?
Most whole-house seamless replacements run $1,200–$3,000, with smaller homes at the low end. Linear feet, stories, corners, downspouts, 5-inch vs. 6-inch size, and leaf protection move the number. An at-home estimate is free.
Are gutter guards worth it?
If you have real tree cover, yes — they end the twice-a-year cleaning cycle. With few trees nearby, they’re optional. We install contractor-grade Leaf Relief and Englert MicroGuard systems, and the cheapest time to add them is while your new gutters are going up.
Should I replace my gutters when I replace my roof?
If the gutters are 15–20 years old, yes — doing both in one project means one crew, one disruption, and a roof and drainage system aging on the same clock. If your gutters are newer, we’ll tell you to keep them.
